As most of you probably know, rejection, depression, cutting, burning or any other form of self-harm are literally killing our young people now more than ever. The Reality is that more and more young people are turning towards such behaviour. As a Youth Leader, it truly breaks my heart to [...] I’ll never forget moving here from Edmonton. Toronto’s Union Station left quite an impression. It took me three days by train, but I finally made it here Nov. 25, 1991. My first impression of life in Toronto was quite vivid. I exited the train and entered the station, where I was accosted by hoardes of [...] Been thinking a lot about ruts and how to get out of them. We all have them, but I don’t know anyone who likes them. In baseball, they call it a slump. Larry Stone, from BNET, put it this way: THEY ARE A PUNCH TO THE GUT, A blow to the psyche. They are humiliating, humbling [...] Had a great conversation with Sarah this morning, while driving her to school…. Dad: “Do you ever feel like you don’t fit in at school?” Sarah: “Yup.” Dad: “So how do you cope with that?” Sarah: “Suck it up.” (I think she’s inherited my matter-of-fact approach, don’t you?) Dad: “Do you ever talk with some of your friends about that? [...] Wow, just got back from our second meeting of Octane. It’s a men’s prayer group that meets every Tuesday at 7pm at Oshawa Community Church. What a great time! Some highlights….. God’s presence was really thick We just created an anonymous survey to gather input not only from those who attend Oshawa Community Church, but also from those who no longer attend.
